best cities in Illinois besides Chicago? : SameGrassButGreener
I'm interested in Illinois and want to learn about other urban areas in the state. Some criteria I care about: cheap houses, public parks and hiking trails nearby, hopefully not quite as cold as Chicago. I have heard good things about Peoria and Champaign-Urbana, how do they compare to each other? And any other suggestions?

Central Illinois has some cities that are very livable, especially in terms of affordability. Check out Peoria, Bloomington/Normal, Champaign/Urbana, and maybe Galesburg. If you want to work for the state check out Springfield as well, but I am personally not a huge fan of the capitol.
